Our school recently had the amazing opportunity to take part in a unique BBC-TV Workshop titled “Laugh n Learn: behind the Scenes,” led by professional BBC actors Joe Chambers and Andrew Crawford. The event proved to be both highly entertaining and incredibly educational, especially in supporting our students’ English language learning in a practical and engaging way.
Students from grades 6 and 9 participated in the 60-minute session, which began with a fascinating talk from the actors about their experiences working in television. They spoke about their personal journeys, their roles at the BBC, and what it’s like to be part of the media world. Their enthusiasm and professionalism were truly inspiring. A temporary TV studio was set up in our school gymnasium, where students had the chance to take on various production roles — including camera work, sound control, and directing while other students were performing a scene from “Rapunzel”. This hands-on experience not only gave them insight into how television is made, but also encouraged creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving — all in English. Using the language in such an authentic setting helped the students become more confident and motivated to improve their skills. One of the highlights of the workshop was the lively Q&A session. Students asked a wide range of questions and received thoughtful, entertaining answers that deepened their understanding of media production and English in real-world use. The event ended with a special performance of the BBC’s “The Ridiculous Rhyme Show,” which brought laughter and joy to the whole room and showcased the actors' talent in action. The BBC deserves special praise for creating such a high-quality and inspiring workshop. Their commitment to education and language learning is outstanding, and their team made sure every student felt included, supported, and excited about learning.
We are especially proud to share that — thanks to the
outstanding engagement of our students and the excellent
organization by our school team — we have been selected as an
official BBC Partner School. This is a great honor and a clear
sign that our efforts to provide meaningful and modern language
education are being recognized.
We look forward to many more inspiring projects with the BBC in
the future!
